TRMM SEES TORNADIC THUNDERSTORMS
The image above is a view from the TRMM satellite of the tornado which hit Greensburg, Kansas causing ten deaths on friday evening 4 May 2007. The very low sun angle casts extremely long shadows from towering tornadic thunderstorm clouds. Visible and infrared data from the TRMM satellite captured at 0058 UTC 5 May (about 7:58 PM Friday night) were used to make the image.
