MIDWEST FLOODING In addition to severe weather which recently devastated some areas of the midwest there is now danger of near record flooding. Link to images of midwest flooding The TRMM-based, near-real time Multi-satellite Precipitation Analysis (MPA) at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center is used to monitor rainfall over the globe. MPA rainfall totals are shown in the image for the period from May 1 to May 8, 2007. The MPA analysis indicates that during the past seven days over 400 mm(15.7 inches) of rain fell in some areas of the midwest resulting in wide spread flooding. Click here to see a Quicktime animation of rainfall accumulation in the Midwest. To see TRMM web pages that monitor areas of high flood potential anywhere on earth CLick here.

TRMM is a joint mission between NASA and the Japanese space agency JAXA.
