Flooding over Southeastern United States

The top image shows rain accumulation map derived from the TRMM-based multisatellite rainfall estimation technique at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The rainmap was constructed during May 4- May 9, the period of repeated severe weather throughout the southeastern United States and southern Plains. The bottom graphs show a time sequence of rainfall rate (left panel) and accumulation of rain (right panel). The estimates are based on averaging all points in a 200-km radius circle surrounding Nashville, TN.
