The rainfall anomaly analysis shown above was made by comparing rainfall data compiled during the twelve year period from 2001-2012 to
"near real-time" Multi-satellite Precipitation Analysis (TMPA-RT 3B42RT) data collected in the past 30 days.
The ENSO Precipitation Index (ESPI) for the last 30 days is 0.70
ESPI is calcuated with precipitation anomalies from two areas
in the Pacific Ocean and quantifies the strength of ENSO, in
terms of regional rainfall changes. A detailed summary of the

. Time series of the bimonthly El Niño Index (EI), La Niña Index
Precipitation Index (ESPI) are shown in
Figure 2 .
